Fish Market Clean up
Between 9th of February till the 11th of February 2016, HEPCA launched a major clean- up of the Hurghada fish market area. HEPCA's cleaning staff utilized our equipment as well as a large loader provided by the Fishermen Community Organization to remove several tons of garbage, waste wood and fish remnants from the area. A major issue encountered during the campaign was the presence of sewage swamps along the shoreline, created by the presence of nearby sewage pipelines, some of the swamps reached a depth of 40 cm. This situation is naturally a cause of constant distress for the fishermen going in and out of their boats or attempting to access the shoreline. HEPCA is currently collaborating with the Fishermen Community Organization and the relevant authorities to find a radical solution to the problem and prevent a re occurrence of these accumulations in the future.
