Hurghada Parade of 2014

H.E General Ahmed Abdullah – the Red Sea Governor - has attended the solid waste trucks & equipment parade that was organized yesterday by Hepca, a brief about the solid waste management and its challenges was presented to the governor; who has expressed his admiration for the condition of the vehicles and the management of the whole scheme. He also encouraged the team to exert more efforts and finally suggested to shift the whole collection process to a night operation get better results. Work should start from 1 A.M to 8 A.M The Governor praised the arrival of a new 100 waste containers with a capacity of 240 tons/day, and we’re expecting that the new containers will have a great positive impact on the service in Hurghada streets. All the containers will be distributed in areas that have the extra need for them. Cleaning up Hurghada and keeping it clean is not just about street sweepers, trucks and rubbish bins. It is about attitude – predominantly the attitude of the residents. HEPCA endeavored into the field of Solid Waste Management in Hurghada three years ago due to the blatant lack of an effective solid waste management system; which has dire impacts on our natural resources. The death of hundreds of dolphins & sea turtles were reported due to the plastic bags that reach our sea. Solid waste does not only impact only marine mammals; the impact of the plastic bags on corals reefs can be disastrous and this is something we can’t afford. : وصول 100 حاوية جديدة لدعم المنظومة تفقد السيد اللواء / احمد عبد الله محافظ البحر الاحمر بالامس منظومة المخلفات الصبة بالغردقة ، حيث حضر سيادته عرض المنظومة لكافة مركباتها و معداتها و كذا تم شرح منظومة العمل لسيادته ، و قد اشاد السيد المحافظ بحالة المركبات و اسلوب الجمعية فى ادارة المنظومة و حث العاملين على بذل مجهود اكبر ، كما اقترح سيادته قيام الجمعية بجمع المخلفات خلال وردية ليلية حيث قد سبق للجمعية تجربة هذا المقترح و بالفعل كانت نتائجه على ارض الواقع فعالة جدا و ستكون مواعيد العمل من الساعة الواحدة الى الساعة الثامنة صباحا كما اثنى سيادته على وصول عدد 100 حاوية " سعة 1,200طن " ، و ذلك لخدمة المنظومة بالغردقة ، حيث تصل قدرتهاالاستيعابية الى 240 طن / يومى ، و تتوقع الجمعية ان تسهم الحاويات الجديدة فى زيادة مستوى الخدمة بشوارع الغردقة بما يليق بها ، و سيتم توزيع هذه الحاويات فى الاماكن الاكثر احتياجا او ذات الكثافة السكانية العالية ان نظافة مدينة الغردقة و الابقاء عليها نظيفة ليس فقط بعمال النظافة ، المكانس ، المركبات و الحاويات ، يلعب المواطن دور هام و حيوى و سلوكياته فى التعامل مع المخلفات الصلبة من اهم عوامل نجاح المنظومة و قد قامت الجمعية بمبادرة العمل بمنظومة المخلفات الصلبة بمدينة الغردقة عام 2011 ، لما تلعبه من دور فى الحفاظ على ثرواتنا الطبيعية ، فقد شكلت المخلفات الصلبة خطورة شديدة على الكائنات البحرية و قد تسببت الاكياس البلاستيكية التى تصل الى مياه البحر الاحمر الى نفوق مئات الدرافيل و السلاحف البحرية بالاضافة الى إضرارها الشديد بالشعاب المرجانية التى تمثل قيمة اقتصادية و بيئية لا تقدر بثمن.
