Opening of Brothers Islands
In continuation to HEPCA’s role in the protection and conservation of the Red Sea, HEPCA in collaboration with CDWS with the support of the Red Sea Governorate all agreed to allow all Safari boats to commence their trips to the Brothers Island starting March 16 with few rule to apply in the decree issued by Red Sea Governor no. 148 for year 2019.
The decree defined the action plan for diving activities’ to be implemented at brother islands by not allowing boats to stay overnight in brother islands, the daily maximum capacity of boats on the brother islands are 18. 12 boats for the big brother and 6 for the small brother and only during the designated hours, applying a system for Safari boats to apply for sailing permit to visit brother islands. Nonetheless, It prohibited all safari boats to dump any organic waste in the area
By applying above procedures, Brothers Islands will be protected from the wrong practices occurred in the past by divers and will be available for all divers to enjoy its magnificent coral sceneries and sporadic marine species in a safe way, and at the same time protect the Red Sea Eco system and environment.
