Ras Mohammed, OFF THE HOOK!
HEPCA would like to congratulate all the participants in the campaign promoted to ban all fishing activities in the National Park of Ras Mohamed amidst the decree issued lately by the Governor of South Sinai. We would like to congratulate all those who lobbied with us against this decision for the prompt response of His Excellency the Governor of South Sinai to revert his previous decree. On this occasion we would like to thank all scientists and experts as well as all individuals who are concerned with the protection of our natural resources for their continuous efforts and support. We would also like to thank the diving community which locally and internationally supported and help to spread the petition and the campaign. Grateful thanks go to the National Parks of Ras Mohamed and all its staff, the Ministry of Tourism, the NGOs, the CDWS, and all the media and press whose endless support was fundamental in the achievement of this milestone result. The latest events highlight that pressure and demands from the civil society are a driving force indeed and can find a quick response from decision makers: HEPCA believes that this day should be considered as a pivotal point. We will keep on working to form more lobbies and to orient, educate and direct the public opinion in our beloved country to our cause and cases regarding the protection of the Egyptian natural resources Once again, we would like thank all individuals, association, organizations and NGOs for the enormous efforts spent to make this happen
