Wadi El Gimal National Park Clean Up

Wadi El Gimal, represents an integrated land and sea ecosystem containing a wide variety of habitats. Wadi Gimal National Park covers an area of about 4,770 Km2 of land, in addition to about 2,000 Km2 of marine waters. The Park reaches from the jagged ridges of the Eastern Desert through a network of sheltered wadis to the aquamarine depth of the Red Sea Wadi Gimal watershed, over 1,400 Km2, is one of the largest drainage basins and probably the best vegetated Wadi in the Eastern Desert. In the past two days; Over 50 participants from Wadi Elgemal National Park " official " rangers, Wadi Gimal Diving Centerr, Guests of Shams Alam Beach Resort Fanpage and Aquarius - Port Ghalib have joined together to conduct underwater and beach cleanups in the areas of Wadi El Gimal Island and Sharm Fujheiri where they have collected over 8 tons of Plastics, metal, wood, rubber, and glass from and discarded fishing lines. All the collected items were transported to the HEPCA's Solid Waste Management Facility in Marsa Alam. HEPCA would like to warmly thank the involved operations and their guests for their contribute in the protection of our natural resources.
